Synopsis

In 1977 my friend Janice and I traveled for 6 months across Africa and Asia searching for adventure and getting more than we bargained for!

Throwing ourselves into new situations over and over again we not only crossed borders of countries but crossed borders in our minds. From the small villages in Africa to the large cities of India we found kindness everywhere and fell in love with humanity. Opening up ourselves to the world, the world opened up for us. The more time that went by, along with how much the world has changed, makes the experiences of the 1977 trip seem so wild and fantastical.

Reviews

"Loved the book, I felt like I was traveling along with them as they explored the world. Really enjoyed "going back in time" to when traveling and crossing borders was simpler."

"This book is about the adventurous spirit of two young women in the 1970s and how they overcame uncertainty of the unknown to reveal the goodness of people everywhere."

"An exciting and informative tale of what it was like in the '70s. A more peaceful era for traveling abroad but still dangerous for women."

About the author

Dulce lived most of her adult life next to Denali National Park, Alaska. She worked multiple jobs including as a Registered Nurse, Bus Driver, Guide, and worked as a carpenter on her own projects. She loved living in the wilderness in a small community who played together, worked together, and helped each other out. It was there she met Chuck, the love of her life.Since the 1977 around the world trip, she travels when she can. Although instead of the heavy backpack of those days, she travels very light. Dulce and Chuck are retired in Bandon on the Southern Oregon Coast and enjoy living in this small beach town.
